Max is Ready to Protest

Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound, where records are being broken as we speak. 

I report with some tongue in cheek that I came within a fraction of a dollar from putting $50 of gasoline into my Honda CR-V the other day.  I may have made it, but the pump started to slow to a crawl because they have a $50 limit and I did not want to waste the time to see if I could squeeze just a little bit more into my gas tank.  Besides, doing my version of the Snoopy victory dance around the gas pump may have resulted in a 911 call to the police.  Look, Ma, a crazy man!  You get the picture.

It has now reached the point where using cash to purchase gasoline is going to become a passing fad, along with poodle skirts and white buckskin shoes. Thus, we in the Dogpound have resolved collectively that we are going to protest this ridiculous abuse of our pocketbook.  We are going to stay home on the 4th of July and avoid any lengthy trips that would require us to stop at a gas station.

I know what you are thinking, and you are wrong. This is not some lame attempt to get the attention of the oil companies.  They really couldn’t care less; they treat us like little kids who are going to throw a temper tantrum while holding our breath because we don’t want to eat our peas.  Being the all-knowing parents, they will patiently wait until we come up gasping for air, pat us on the head, congratulate us for setting a new record for holding our breath, and then point to the peas that are still on our plate.  Nor is it an attempt to garner the attention of our government, since you can read the results of their efforts in any newspaper headlines. What headlines, you ask? My point exactly!

We the people have to make a statement. We have to make a stand.  Stay home in droves; use the money you save to buy your own fireworks show. With the cash you will be saving, you will be able to afford those really BIG ones.  Have a safe 4th of July and keep the cars off the road.
