Max Has a Familiar Name

Hello and welcome back to the wonderful worldof the Internet Dogpound.

You can find a lot interesting things on the Internet and a lot of mindless things as well. One of the latter came to my attention, called “How Many of Me.”  You can put in your name, and it will show how many people in the country have your full name and how many have your first and last name.  It is based on a statistical analysis of an old census, but it is still interesting to see what pops up.

I have a fairly popular last name – like eighth in the country – which represents a whopping 1,030,837 Wilsons running around. As for Max, there are roughly 304 people in the country that have the name Max Wilson, and we are assuming they are all humans and no dogs were counted in the census.

One thing did catch my eye. They said that 99.5% of the individuals with my first name [Walter] are males.  So somewhere out there, we can find a female or two who is called Walter. Hmmmm. All I have to say is that somewhere there is a couple who must have wanted a boy very, very badly. Sort of reminds me of that song by Johnny Cash, “A Boy Named Sue.”  Just in reverse in this case!

Thought for the Week
“From our ancestors come our names, but from our virtues our honors.”  Dogpound Wisdom

Preacher
After the church service a little boy told the pastor, “When I grow up, I’m going to give you some money.”

“Well, thank you,” the pastor replied, “but why?”

“Because my daddy says you’re one of the poorest preachers we’ve ever had.”

Another Lawsuit
You would think that losing weight would be a good thing, but not so, according to Broderick Lloyd Laswell of Bentonville, Ark., who has dropped over 100 pounds, from 413 to 308 pounds.

The rest of the story is that for the past eight months, he has been an inmate at the local prison, and he is suing them for not serving him enough food.  Actually, his lawsuit says he is being “starved to death.”  I can only imagine when you are the size of two and get fed a single-size serving. Guess there are no second helpings at the prison or nachos for a late-night snack!

Oh yes, and for icing on the cake: his suit is also requesting that the jail start serving hot food. The jail has only served cold meals for years. [Brings a tear to my eyes. Guess I better put this onion down!]

Time for me to run.  As always be good, play safe, and remember your good name is only as good as you are.
