Playing golf with your buddies or your family is supposed to be an enjoyable experience. Many things can interfere with the overall enjoyment of your round: how you play, weather, course conditions, and other players, to name a few. One of the biggest things that I see people forget while they are on the course is that they are not the only people out there. I am not trying to upset anyone with this topic, but if I can help one person enjoy the game more, then I was successful. Here are a few tips to help you enjoy the investment you have made for your next round.
First of all, remember that you aren’t the only one playing that day. Do everything to stay with the group in front of you. If your group falls behind and stays behind, everyone who plays the course after you will have to wait for you. If this means that you have to put a limit on the number of shots you try to hit over the water on a certain hole, then do it. You may also have to skip a hole or half a hole to get back into position. The money you are spending is not any more valuable than the money other people are spending. Please try to keep this in mind for everyone else’s sake.
Secondly, keep the volume down. There might be kids playing either on the course or nearby, and they don’t need to hear you scream at the top of your lungs. Other players on the course also need to be able to play without being distracted. I am not suggesting that you shouldn’t get upset; it is a frustrating game. Just try to be considerate to the other people on the course. Say it quietly under your breath.
Lastly, remember that it is a game and it is supposed to be enjoyed. When you find yourself on the course try to put yourself in the other person’s shoes. They want to enjoy their time as much as you do. You’re not going to play well every time you go out. Make the most of it and enjoy the outdoors.
Remember, it could be worse;you could be home mowing the lawn, cleaning the garage, cleaning the house, visiting your in-laws, doing your homework, or, well you get the idea.
I hope that anyone who reads this article will remember that they are not the only person on the course. If everyone can try to be a little considerate to the other golfers, it can be more fun to spend the money to play golf. Just try to keep it out of the lumber yard.
