Ninety-four fifth graders recently made the transition to middle school at Beulah Elementary School’s graduation ceremony.

Following a parent-sponsored breakfast, Beulah principal Mrs. Hunt opened the ceremony with a welcome and a short speech, after which the “special awards” were given. Honor roll awards went to Emily Alsonso, Jerrell Funtila, Laureen Riley, Hien Vo, Kareen Arana, Sarah Hill, Keon McCoy, Cindy Salgado, Keishana Tucker, Damir Gordon, Sierra Johnson, Davon Maddox, Stevontae Walton, Katheleenah Accielien, Aija Alexander, and Trey Plummer. The persistence award went to Hailey Barnes, and the South Richmond Rotary Club Award was given to Alexis Allen and Edgar Chavarria.

In addition, awards for arts, books, and perfect attendance were given out. A student performance of “Unwritten” and “I Wonder” followed.

Guest speaker David Glass talked about setting and achieving goals, and the students then received their fifth-grade certificates, which officially announced them as middle schoolers.

Most of the graduates will be attending Falling Creek Middle School and Salem Middle School.
