Plantation Days: Community celebrates 19th-century life.

A steady stream of visitors enjoyed the sights, sounds, and smells of Plantation Day, held on the third Saturday in June at Magnolia Grange. As part of the annual celebration, attendees were treated to games, crafts, demonstrations, exhibits, costumed interpreters, and food while they learned about 19th-century life in Chesterfield County.

R.S. Carnegie demonstrated the process of photography in the field and the studio in the 19th century.


Ian Joyce went for the archeological dig with instructor Bryan Truzzie.


Richard A. Stewart’s exhibit explained how African-Americans were used during the war.


Ava Harmon enjoyed the soap and laundry scrubber the most.


Mildred Daffron enjoyed the day by welcoming guests at her old homeplace.


Denny Sheets shares the progression of rifles and equipment used during the Civil War with Chris Harmon and his son Jonathan.
