DOJ Approves Chesterfield Voting Changes
By
Aug 27, 2008 - 10:24:51 AM

The precinct changes requested by
Chesterfield County to improve the voting process have been approved by the United States Department of Justice. These changes included moving four polling places and opening four new precincts (one approval for a new precinct had been previously received.)

“All of the changes are voter-friendly and intended to provide a more positive experience for the voters through improved parking, easier access, and overall better facilities,” General Registrar Larry Haake says. “We believe these changes will be well received by the voters affected in November.”

“Voter patience is going to be a necessity this November. Having a heavier than normal voter turnout is a very positive development in our electoral process,” Haake said. “We are doing what we can to minimize wait times and improve the overall process with increased workers and new procedures.”

Changes are in certain precincts in the Bermuda, Dale, and Matoaca Districts. Notices to voters affected will be mailed in the next 10 days. Voters with questions should call the Chesterfield County General Registrar’s office at 748-1471 or visit www.chesterfield.gov/registrar.
