A Wonderful Gift

To the Editor:

We enjoyed reading the heartwarming article "A Decades-Long Auto Search Finally Pays Off."  This was a wonderful gift that David Potter gave his grandfather.

David said his grandparents had taught him integrity, honor and respect.  When we read those words, it really described David Potter.  He is also very dedicated to his job, friendly and helpful to the people who attends programs, classes, meeting, etc., at the Bensley Community Center.

David is the type of employee who helps to make Chesterfield County a First Choice Community.

Samford, Not “Sandford”

To the Editor:

In regard to the correspondence in this week’s and last week’s paper, the name is Joe Samford, not “Sandford.”

I came to Chester in 1967 and Joe Samford’s store was in business at that time.  I recall being told that his family was from Alberta, in Brunswick County.  My aunt, Mrs. Fisher Bruce, bought her groceries from Joe Samford.

Roseland: Same Old Board

The BOS just passed the Roseland case based on what they called “Smart Growth.”

As far as I know, this is the first such case of “Smart Growth.” If that is indeed the case then all the other cases that the BOS has passed (which is virtually all that they have heard)  must be considered “Stupid Growth.”

Passing one case of Smart Growth and a bunch of Stupid Growth creates a simple mathematical formula:

1 Smart Growth + Lots of Stupid Growth = Business as Usual

Miller Eanes

P.S.  In case you missed the vote on Roseland, four supervisors voted in favor:
Kelly Miller, Don Sowder, Dickie King, Art Warren.
