Board Breaks Promises

To the Editor:

As far as Mr. Dickie King’s concern that it must have been “a challenge for board members to support any case that would label them as pro-growth,” all I can say is, really?

What exactly has this new BOS done to indicate that they are anything but pro-growth?

I guess we were all bamboozled if we thought we were electing a Board that would get residential growth under control.

Mr. Holland even went so far as to say in a debate with Mr. Kelly Miller that he would support a moratorium of new residential growth. Fool me once...

My future votes for BOS will be for “anyone but” until we finally get a Board that delivers on their promises.

Setting the Gullivers Record Straight

To the Editor:

I, like many people in the village, look forward to reading your paper each week. Every Wednesday morning, I pick up my copy at Gullivers Cross Flites.

I am writing this letter because I feel that you have done a great injustice to the Cross Flites in the article you ran in your September 10 issue. More specifically, the headline of that article, which read “Man Beaten and Robbed at Gullivers Crossflite Restaurant.”

Granted, the man who was attacked had been in the Flites, but he was beaten and robbed almost two blocks from the Flites. He could have been coming from Walgreens or many other businesses in the area.

Anyone who read the headline, but not the article, would assume that it happened in the restaurant! This is clearly not the case, and I feel you should write a retraction. Dave Parsons runs a good business that caters to a very broad cross-section of people in this area. I don’t think I’d call it a family restaurant as such, but it is a safe, clean, and friendly place to meet your friends, have good food, or drink a cold one! Your headline would suggest something different, and I feel the fine people in our area should know the truth.
