It’s Called an “Election”

To the Editor:

I experienced the views of Dr. Robert Owens (“Not-so-Nostradamus”) and Lee Pipes (“I Read It as Red”) in the Village News this morning as a normal blowing-off-steam following an electoral defeat.

To Owens’ long litany of expected disasters for the next four years, I will merely note that the American people gave Obama some seven million more votes than they gave McCain. We can second-guess the American voters, but for now they have spoken pretty clearly. There will be a Congressional election in 2010 for those who may wish to take Congress back from the Dems. There will be a Presidential election in 2012 for those interested in replacing Obama in the White House. There are no permanent regime changes in this nation, only course adjustments.

To Pipes’ assertion that Obama represents Bolshevism, I can only reply that Obama will subject himself to the voters again in 2012. Bolsheviks don’t believe in elections; they just execute all their political opponents. Let’s not exaggerate the perils of Obama. In return, I will henceforth stop discussing the failures of Bush.

Succumbing to Communism

To the Editor:
These are indeed historic times. As academia prepares the final assault on the Constitution, Americans have become the first people in history to voluntarily trade freedom for communism. In our now-certain future, it will become increasingly clear to all that Bill Ayers meant it when he said 25 million capitalists might have to die in order to establish a worker’s paradise in America. It will become clear what Chuck Schumer meant when he said that we will let nothing stop our socialist revolution. Shortly it will be understood exactly what Bill Clinton meant when he said that the Constitution is what we say it is. In the near future, we will all come to understand the purpose of Obama’s “National Security Force,” which he has proposed to be as numerous, as well-equipped, and as well-funded as the American military. Bolsheviks don’t submit themselves for public judgment. You don’t vote these boys out of power.
As America’s new masters prepare to seize each American’s savings for the furtherance of state power and contemplate the advisability of trying George Bush when he leaves office, I say to each of you my fellow citizens – make that comrades – well done.

Lee Pipes

An Imbalance of Respect

To the Editor:

Should the people on the other side of the aisle show President-elect Obama the same manners and respect the Democrats showed President Bush? Do you remember Senator Jim Webb’s response when President Bush asked how his son was doing? Is it worse for someone to call President-elect Obama a socialist or Marxist or Bush a liar or warmonger?
