No New Taxes, Gov. Kaine

To the Editor:

Irrespective of increased local taxes and the spiraling costs of necessities to Virginia’s taxpayers, it is Timmy “no new taxes” Kaine’s position that the state government now needs more tax money to squander. The three-billion-dollar increase in government spending this year wasn’t enough for Timmy and his friends. Without further comment on the growing ugliness that has become government spending in Virginia, I can suggest a couple of places Timmy might look for the extra squandroes he so desperately needs.

Timmy might consider taxing the apparatchik retirement fund, otherwise known as college endowments. Additionally, an audit of the state lottery might turn up a few loose squandroes that would be better spent by our representatives here in the People’s Republik of Virginia.

Attack on Fausz Overboard

To the Editor:

Mr. Bartlett’s outrageously vehement attack on Mr. Fausz was neither accurate nor logical.  Did we read the same article concerning the raw sewage at the trailer park?  The article I read was thoughtful, reasonable, and compassionate.

Mr. Fausz takes a great interest in his community and local government.  His wife takes an interest in local art (or lack thereof).  I find Mr. Fausz’s articles to be discerning and that they do cover both sides of the issue.  Mr. Fausz obviously cares a great deal for his family and his community.  Furthermore, he goes out of his way to work toward making the public aware
of community problems and working toward solving them.

So Mr. Bartlett is a Libertarian.  I am one of those far right wing Republican conservatives whom you “dislike and distrust.”   Who cares?  How is that relevant to the issue?

Incidentally, Mr. Bartlett, what exactly have YOU done about the sewage problem?
