Since 1989, Robbins Landscaping, Inc. has been one of Chester’s biggest names in the business, offering a variety of landscape design, building, and maintenance services. But it’s only until now that they can offer those services from a location of their own.
The Robbins Landscaping team moved into a Ruffin Mill Rd. location on August 11; previously, operations had taken place on rented agricultural land on Old Cannon Rd.
“There’s terrific access to this location,” says Doug Robbins, president of Robbins Landscaping. “I-95 is right here; 288 is right here, and this property really fits our needs.” The new Robbins warehouse is spread out over 6,000 square feet, and the company also has three acres of land with which to work.
“We’ll probably use between one-third and one-half of an acre and build that up as a show garden,” Robbins says. “A show garden would be a completed landscape with a lot of different elements – like hardscape, lighting, and water displays, and maybe even an outdoor kitchen – that would be permanently planted around the front and sides of the warehouse. I think that’d be a great introduction to the company.”
With the new space, Robbins believes that the company will be able to be “much more efficient and effective,” and hopes to expand in-house services. “Right now, we sub-contract out our irrigation services, but we’d love to be able to offer that in-house,” he says.
No matter where the company is located, however, one thing certainly won’t change: Robbins’ commitment to the people around him.
“I believe everyone is here for a reason, and I’m here to help other people,” Robbins says. “I love to give back to the community and I love to help them out – it’s my way of saying thank you to all of the people who have helped me over the years.”
In fact, the Robbins Landscaping team is involved with helping a number of local landmarks with their landscaping needs, including the Chester YMCA, Chester Presbyterian Church, and most recently, Ecoff Elementary School.
Many clients have been vocal about their experiences with Robbins, based on the company’s website testimonials: “It’s always a pleasure to work with a company that not only delivers as promised, but frequently exceeds expectations,” writes Monique Williams. Another client, Rob Laurence, adds: “Great job. Thanks for meeting my challenging schedule. I was very impressed with both the excellent service and the final product.”
For Robbins, the approval of his clients is more rewarding than anything else. “When I’m out at the bank, or the grocery store, and someone comes up to me and says, ‘I loved working with Tom’ or ‘I loved working with Dionicio,’ it makes me even happier than when I get compliments from people on our work!”
And now that Robbins Landscaping is in a new location, Robbins believes that his team will be even better able to serve their clients. “It’s a great opportunity for us to grow the business,” he says. “It’s a location with a greater ability to show clients different aspects of the company, and it will be a better location for our existing employees, too.”
