Les Blackwell, owner of Les & Company Hair Salon, and his staff held a grand re-opening celebrating 18 years of service with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Last Wednesday, special guests joined Blackwell and his staff for the ribbon cutting with a special champagne and hors d’oeuvres reception inside the salon.
The grand re-opening celebrated the completion of a total remodeling project for the salon. With the removal of a few walls, the entire reception/waiting area is now completely open, inviting clients to a relaxing atmosphere that details a safari motif. Warm browns and bright greens might place the client in the mood for a little adventure with their own hair design when they catch up with their stylist in their booth, which resembles a straw hut with the stations on bamboo floors. The waxing room is decorated with warm brown tones. The drying room, manicure, and pedicure rooms take on robust reds and greens and have the feel of a rainforest.
Blackwell says it has been a long process completing the project, but he is very pleased with the outcome.
In his opening introductions during the ribbon cutting ceremony, he welcomed each of the guests, especially his longtime friend, Delegate Kirk Cox. He and Delegate Cox became friends while Blackwell was going to school and working part-time at Swift Creek Mill. Both he and Delegate Cox were working as servers 26 years ago, just when both were getting their careers off the ground. Additional guests included Bermuda District Supervisor Dorothy Jaeckle; Leonard McAdams, a longtime friend and business neighbor with Edward Jones; and Page Martin, representing the Chester Community Association.
Blackwell praised his staff on how well they all worked together, how they are family, and how the success of the business has been because of them. He recognized Rosie Adams, who has worked with him for 22 years; Terry Flanagan, for 17 years; and Tina Trivette, who has worked with him for 16 years.
