George Clooney has criticised the media for their treatment of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, saying she is being "pursued and vilified", making a comparison with Princess Diana.

Five of Meghan's closest friends also spoke out against " the global bullying" they are seeing against the duchess in a series of interviews with People magazine.

Meghan and Harry's outing comes just one day after the expectant royal was defended by George Clooney, who attended the pair's wedding a year ago.

They may have been spending their first Valentine's Day as a married couple apart, but the two British servicemen Prince Harry was visiting in the Arctic Circle ensured wife Meghan was never too far from his mind after creating a "shrine" dedicated to the couple.

"She's been pursued and vilified", Clooney said at a promotional event for his new film, according to the UK's Press Association (PA) news agency.

Betway's Alan Alger said: "There is serious momentum gathering behind the idea that Meghan Markle is expecting twins and having cut the odds on that happening earlier in the week, sustained support has seen us significantly shorten the price again".
