MWC 2019: "Go Ahead, Copy Our Mate X Folding Phone" Says Huawei

Huawei unveils Mate X folding phone to rival Samsung Galaxy Fold

Huawei's Mate X foldable phone looks way better than Samsung's Galaxy Fold

But Huawei is also expecting to sell the Mate X mid-2019 for nothing less than €2,299.

The Huawei Mate X works in the opposite way - there is only one screen, and it wraps around the phone when it is folded mode. "We'll have less supply (of the Galaxy Fold) than we would of the S10 at launch, and also how it goes to market is really important to us, ' Samsung's Kate Beaumont told the outlet".

The Mate X is set to compete with Samsung's Galaxy Fold, which was announced less than a week before. One advantage that the Mate X does have however, is the inclusion of 5G despite Huawei's struggles with its network around the world.

Even then, the Huawei Mate X is only 5.4mm thick when opened, and that's thinner than the newest iPad Pro. There's the 5G variants of the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Fold in Samsung's camp, the Mate X in Huawei's, and the LG V50 ThinQ 5G, which is interestingly taking the dual screen route instead of folding displays.

MWC attendees jostling for a snap of the Huawei Mate X bendable phone.

Buyers of the Galaxy Fold are all going to be early-adopters at the bleeding edge of new technology, not to mention people with deep pockets in order to afford the $2k price Samsung has given the smartphone. By using a screen that folds outwards and lines up seamlessly with the grip housing the cameras, it is easy to double the cameras for rear or front facing photos. The smartphone changes the display as you fold or unfold the screen and adjust the contents on display accordingly. The Mate X, on the other hand, features an 8-inch wraparound screen which folds out rather than in like its Samsung competitor.

Former US security officials to oppose emergency declaration
By a vote of 229-193, the House agreed to move to final debate and a vote later on Tuesday on passing the resolution. Even if Congress votes to terminate the president's emergency declaration, Trump is likely to veto the measure.

According to Huawei, the Kirin 980 and Balong 5000 modem are capable of 4.6Gbps downlink speeds, which are double the industry standard for 5G and ten times what's now available with 4G networks.

According to Huawei, the reason was simply a strong demand for its premium smartphones.

So, as if we didn't have enough to keep up with when it comes to technology, apparently we now need a folding smartphone.

It should be noted than neither the Mate X nor the Galaxy Fold have been made accessible to the press to actually touch, use and get a feeling of the phones.

Moreover, the Huawei Mate X comes with an integrated Fingerprint Power Button that enables users to power up the device with one tap, offering a secure and convenient experience. Here, it told eager consumers that the phone will be available in mid-2019 and at the cost of a small second-hand auto.
