MLB Free Agency Rumors: Bryce Harper Not 'Even Considering' Signing Short-Term Contract

Or are we going to have a J.D. Martinez incident who signed with the Red Sox during Spring Training? First, the San Diego Padres were touted as potential suitors and among the many "mystery teams" in the running for the right-fielder.

Both Manny Machado and Bryce Harper remain unsigned, even though pitchers and catchers have reported for most Major League Baseball teams, although the Yankees players won't be doing that until Thursday.

The six-time All-Star is said to have rejected a 10-year $300 million deal from the Nationals for whom he played from 2012 to 2018. They are said to have met with the player and made a proposal with the details unclear.

The San Francisco Giants have just recently found themselves as a late entry in the Bryce Harper sweepstakes. He told reporters at White Sox camp they thought they had the highest offer. Probably $30 million a year or so, or probably more even, to try to get him. The Yankees are not the frontrunners for Machado - both the White Sox and Phillies have been more aggressive - but they are not out on him, either.

McCabe responded by explaining that he believes he was sacked for opening an investigation into the president. McCabe is telling us", Graham, who said he was prepared to issue subpoenas, told CBS's Face the Nation .

The Yankees were touted as the favorites and were said to have discussed financial concepts with the player. Per the report, he met with Machado and his wife in an effort to work out a potential contract agreement. The White Sox are the X-Factor, though, as it does seem as if they're willing to overpay for Machado, while the Yankees will not.

Despite being traded from the Baltimore Orioles to the Los Angeles Dodgers this past year, Machado is coming off one of his best years as a pro.

The Phillies, on the other hand, after initially being more focused on landing Machado have nearly completely shifted their focus on their pursuit of Harper. He was expected to make a decision early in 2019, but a month and 12 days into the year and there is still no indication as to his next destination.
