The 43-year-old Joplin, Missouri native has two career wins at Daytona International Speedway in 33 career starts, including 58 laps led.
The Daytona 500 packed an unforeseen punch that, if nothing else, entertained Sunday's sun-drenched, sold-out crowd at the famed "World Center of Racing".
"I didn't know how, I didn't know if we could but I meant to do it", said Kligerman, a driver-turned-broadcaster who made his only other career Daytona 500 start in 2014.
"It's the most emotional and the biggest win I've ever had in my life-in anything", said Gibbs, who coached the Washington Redskins to three Super Bowl victories.
"Just unbelievable to be in this position".
"I'd like to think that's why I was in the vehicle, right?"
The ‘Frozen 2’ trailer is finally here
Perhaps the feeling is the original Frozen audience from 2013 has grown up a little and so the movie needed to grow with them. This segues into a anxious Anna and then to Kristoff charging into battle accompanied by an army of reindeer.
"There's just something about Daytona that fits everything I do", Hamlin said.
"He's got two, I've got none, and that's just the way it goes sometimes, " Busch said.
And this Speedweeks no longer was an odd one Sunday night for Hamlin as he celebrated a victory.
Busch led the way with a lap of 200.285 miles per hour (44.936 seconds). But on the final restart, Hamlin wanted - and welcomed - Busch's help. The best finish at Daytona for either one is 17th. At least we got a Gibbs vehicle in Victory Lane.
So on lap 11, all the JGR pit crew members went and stood near the wall at pit road, holding a banner with J.D.'s name on it. "We banded together, made it happen and I'm proud we were able to pull this one off".
As for the actual race itself, it was a flawless display of the talent that so attracted J.D.to Hamlin all those years ago.
Racing was fairly polite for a restrictor plate race - until a huge wreck occurred near the front of the field 10 laps from the end.
With fewer than 10 laps remaining, Matt DiBenedetto tried to make a charge heading the outside lane with a push from Paul Menard. Unfortunately it will be the only thing remembered from a boring race that saw drivers content to ride in single file without challenging for the lead, including in the scramble to the checkered flag.
