Apex Legends seems to have the Titanfall name attached for now, but it still seems quite separate.
The internet is ablaze with rumors of a Free To Play Titanfall Battle Royale game that could be released as soon as Monday. According to an anonymous source that spoke with Kotaku, "it plays like Titanfall mixed with Overwatch and Blackout from Call of Duty: Black Ops 4". Following that event, word about the game got out and we got a better idea of what to expect.
A free-to-play game set in the Titanfall universe is set to release on Monday, February 4. Before the trailer dropped during the Super Bowl today, a Twitter account for the game was spotted and Geoff Keighley confirmed its existence.
Other gameplay details revealed by Schreier also hinted at where EA are pitching the game, which is somewhere between Overwatch and Rainbow Six Siege.

On Thursday, Ariana revealed that she had suffered through pain to add more characters that she thought would fix the problem. Unbeknown to the Nickelodeon alum, Japanese is written and read top to bottom and right to left.
Apex Legends will feature three-player teams with up to 60 players max on a server. "No titans. Just as Titanfall and Titanfall 2, Apex Legends will run on a modified version of Valve's Source engine". Surprisingly, Apex Legends will ditch the Titan mechs that give the series its namesake.
