Teen crashes vehicle after driving blindfolded for Bird Box challenge

Layton police say a 17-year old drove blindfolded while doing the ‘Bird Box’ challenge. It didn’t end well

Driver who crashed while blindfolded was participating in ‘Bird Box Challenge’

Following star Sandra Bullock's lead, the teen intentionally blindfolded herself on Monday afternoon while driving by pulling her beanie down over her eyes.

"Bird Box Challenge while driving.predictable result", the Layton Police Department tweeted following the accident.

"Can't believe I have to say this, but: PLEASE DO NOT HURT YOURSELVES WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE", Netflix tweeted from its primary account.

The department shared two photos on Twitter - the gray truck the 17-year-old girl was driving while blindfolded, and the white SUV she hit. "She hit another auto, a light pole and a sound wall", local police told the news outlet. If you haven't seen the movie, the gist is the world is plagued by supernatural beings that will compel anyone who sees them to kill themselves.

Police are recommending reckless driving charges in the case but it will be up to the County Attorney's Office to determine what charges, if any, are filed. Ironically, the teen very almost committed suicide herself trying to copy the film, and one of the film's characters does commit suicide by driving (un-blindfolded) into oncoming traffic.

Lawyers: Manafort suffers from depression, anxiety - 1/8/2019 12:38:57 PM
For the two charges he now faces in DC federal court, Manafort could receive 17 to 22 years in prison, his plea agreement says. Manafort has pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges in Washington and faces sentencing in a separate case in Virginia.

Earlier this month, Netflix warned its viewers against the "Bird Box" challenge.

The movie promotion involved blindfolds and video games, but no unsafe real-world stunts.

Sadly, some people still are still embracing the stupid, as seen by this 16-year-old motorist in the USA.

Amazingly, no one was injured-though this story could have had a much darker tone had she struck the innocent driver head-on. But others might not be so lucky with such a unsafe stunt.
