Record-setting Buckeyes quarterback Dwayne Haskins declares for NFL Draft

Ohio State Gets Even Richer With Justin Fields

Ohio State Football: Buckeyes to land mega-transfer Justin Fields

Haskins, who led Ohio State to a Big Ten title, win in the Rose Bowl and was a finalist for the Heisman, told the site that Fields is "a freak of nature".

According to the report, confirmed by 247Sports.com, Fields was expected on campus in Columbus on Friday afternoon and is set to move in over the weekend ahead of the resumption of classes at the university.

He played in 12 of Georgia's 14 games as a freshman but saw limited action behind sophomore starter Jake Fromm.

Fields was 2018's No. 1 recruit in the nation. Both are close and have trained with quarterbacks coach Quincy Avery. The quarterback broke Drew Brees' Big Ten record for passing touchdowns in a season (39, achieved in 1998) early in a 62-39 win over rival MI and became just the sixth quarterback in FBS history to throw for 50 touchdown passes when he tossed five in the Big Ten Championship Game and three in the Rose Bowl.

Clearly, there is going to be a premium price to be paid for the chance to land the draft's top quarterback, regardless of which team pays it. Tate Martel and Matthew Baldwin appear to be Fields' strongest competition on the Ohio State depth chart if he is granted immediate eligibility. Rated as the second-best dual-threat quarterback in the 2017 class, the Las Vegas Bishop Gorman standout put up huge numbers in high school.

He is coming off a season in which he accounted for 54 touchdowns for the Buckeyes. Sasser was dismissed from the UGA baseball team after the incident.

Fields' decision to come to Ohio State could have very well been because of Haskins.
