Ultimate has brought the fight to 3 million U.S. players in the 11 days since its release and become Nintendo Switch's fastest-selling game. After announcing that the Nintendo Switch is the fastest selling video game system of the generation, the gaming company revealed that the recently released Super Smash Bros. Nintendo re-iterates that it's the "overall top-selling United States software publisher so far for 2018" according to NPD data, which will be further boosted by holiday sales and by Smash Ultimate's tail. Pair that with the Nintendo Switch being the fastest selling console of this generation, and Nintendo has a lot to celebrate! "Nintendo Switch owners have a lot to look forward to in 2019, including new games in the Animal Crossing and Pokémon series, Yoshi's Crafted World, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and more". Nintendo Australia's figures come from internal data and include eShop sales. Total European sales over the game's first three days were nearly 30% higher than Mario Kart Wii, which went on to ship more than 37 million copies worldwide.

The Switch console itself sold more than 8.7 million units between its March 2017 launch and last month, putting it ahead of Sony's PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One at the same point in their life cycles. It sold 80% better than Super Mario Odyssey at launch and surpassed the sales of Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8.

Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! have combined to sell two million units while Super Mario Party has been purchased 1.4 million times in the US.
