Adding a left-handed pitcher is one of the many things on Matt Klentak's to do list this offseason, and he's been vocal about making this move after the organization went almost two seasons without a start from a lefty.

-The New York Mets introduced second baseman Robinson Cano and closer Edwin Diaz during a press conference at Citi Field, one day after completing a blockbuster trade with the Seattle Mariners. Corbin posted a 3.17 ERA in 200 innings of work with a record of 11-7.

According to multiple reports, Patrick Corbin will sign a six-year, $140 million deal with the Washington Nationals. It's not like the money NY allocated to pursuing Corbin suddenly vanished into thin air, and the Yankees' backup targets reportedly include two notable names: Nathan Eovaldi and J.A. Happ.

Corbin, 29, was among the most-dominant all-around pitchers in the game last season.

Trump Says Cohen Deserves Prison Time Despite Mueller Plea Deal
Stone himself had an answer to the suggestion that Trump's tweet may have violated witness tampering statutes . Trump finished off his morning by attacking Mueller and "his out of control band of angry Democrats".

So, with the No. 1 starter off the market, where do the Reds turn? Or, could Cincinnati go a little cheaper with Eovaldi for maybe 3 years at $50 million? While the details of Corbin's deal have yet to be disclosed, his average salary is $23 million per year. The Sox need a consistently reliable starting pitcher for next season. It'll be even easier then to see why Corbin signing with the Nationals was a tough break for Boston despite looking like a victory on the surface. Two are more realistic than the other, but each has a possibility of being completed at some point this offseason. Bumgarner has really made a name for himself in the postseason, posting an impressive 2.11 ERA in 16 games, helping the Giants win three World Series.

In addition to the agreement with Corbin, the Nationals already have added two catchers - Yan Gomes via trade, Kurt Suzuki in free agency - and two back-end-of-the-bullpen relievers - Kyle Barraclough via trade, Trevor Rosenthal in free agency.

Basically, the Red Sox won (again) Thursday when Corbin reportedly agreed to sign with the Nationals because it kept him away from the Yankees (or another American League contender).
