Lion Air Boeing 737 safety alert after crash

The bulletin warns operators that erroneous readings from a flight-monitoring system can cause the new 737 Max models to aggressively dive

Boeing to issue safety warning to pilots for 737 Max jets: Report

Indonesia's Transportation Ministry said it would investigate how the Boeing passenger plane damaged its left wing on the runway.

The FAA said it plans to mandate the bulletin by issuing an airworthiness directive and "will take further appropriate actions depending on the results of the investigation".

"On November 6, 2018, Boeing issued an Operations Manual Bulletin (OMB) directing operators to existing flight crew procedures to address circumstances where there is erroneous input from an AOA sensor", the company's statement said.

An AOA sensor provides data about the angle at which wind is passing over the wings and tells pilots how much lift a plane is getting.

Preliminary investigations into the Indonesia Lion Air flight 610 Boeing 737 MAX crash have indicated a problem with a sensor that alerts pilots about the possibility of aircraft stalling, especially when the nose is up post lift-off.

Boeing shares rose less than one per cent to US$368.11 in premarket trading Wednesday in NY. The stock had climbed 24 percent this year through Tuesday.

Lion - always been dogged by safety problems - has said the Boeing 737-Max 8 suffered a technical issue on the flight just prior to its deadly crash Monday and that it was fixed.

Florida to Give Former Felons the Franchise
In Florida, as in most of the United States , black people are arrested, convicted and jailed in disproportionate numbers. You think about 1.4 million people who have been denied the right, even though they have done everything they can.

On that October 28 flight, from Bali to Jakarta, the pilot's and copilot's sensors disagreed by about 20 degrees.

It turns out that the AOA sensor was replaced the day before the 737 crashed and possibly worsened the other airspeed indicator problems investigators suggest.

The Indonesian Ministry of Transportation has begun an audit of Lion Air (JT, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) and has also started impromptu checks of various other Indonesian carriers following the crash of one of the low-priced carrier's B737-8s on October 29.

There are more than 200 Boeing Max jets around the world, with orders for more than 4,700, according to Boeing's website. The Boeing 737 MAX is a more fuel-efficient version of the manufacturer's best-selling single-aisle 737 series.

The passengers were flown to their destination, the capital Jakarta, later that evening aboard a different aircraft. But the urgency of a fatal accident can trigger a flurry of such notices. As pilots worked to correct it, it would let them-briefly interrupting the autopilot's control-but then continue attempting to pitch the airplane downward. In the early days of the jet age, the elevator trim system was linked to several accidents. If the problem isn't fixed, it can cause planes to simply fall out of the sky.

He also reportedly said the airport and AMC officer issued an apology over the incident. That case didn't involve the angle-of-attack system.
