As the plan to target Mueller came to light Tuesday, it quickly unraveled as news organizations unearthed gaps and inconsistencies in the allegations. She heard nothing from the office and forgot about the incident until she read a story in the Atlantic published Tuesday afternoon about another woman who had been contacted by Surefire Intelligence. But the scheme had a few too moving parts (that contained blatant falsehoods), which caused its swift undoing.
Wohl also wrote on Twitter that the payment allegations were false.
Burkman is a Washington lawyer and Republican operative.
Now here's where things start to get confusing.
Ms Taub said she found the email, a copy of which was seen by Reuters, to be "creepy" and forwarded it to Mr Mueller's office. That email was reportedly among those referred to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Sent by a man who identified himself as Simon Frick, a researcher at Surefire Intelligence, he said he was interested in Taub's encounters with Mueller and was willing to pay for the information.
"When we learned last week of allegations that women were offered money to make false claims about the Special Counsel, we immediately referred the matter to the FBI for investigation", Carr said. Approximately 20 or so reporters claimed to have received them.
Some journalists also looked into evidence of anyone of her name living in the Fort Myers, Florida area she mentioned, but were unable to verify her existence.

Wohl is allegedly involved in an attempted plot to smear Robert Mueller - who is now investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 USA election- orchestrated by Republican lobbyist Jack Burkman. Wohl has contributed to the Gateway Pundit before, so it seems possible that Gateway Pundit's Jim Hoft knew Wohl was his source. Those documents described an alleged rape by Mueller in NY on or around August 2, 2010.
She says he offered to giver her $20,000 and pay off her credit card debt. He also tweeted that the mainstream media was "scrambling" to discredit him.

At least two conservative media personalities appeared linked to an apparent hoax that may have been created to ensnare Washington reporters, if not also cause political damage to Mueller. A spokesman for the law firm did not respond to emailed questions.
It would seem like being so thoroughly exposed would make this the end of it.
Burkman, who has pushed conspiracy theories related to the murder of former Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich and has a reputation for seeking attention, had made a similar promise to reveal sexual assault allegations against a sitting congressperson at a press conference in November 2017, but he failed to do so.
