'We have to adapt' - Guardiola plays down Wembley pitch concerns

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has admitted he will not be able to manage another team in England if he were to leave the club.

Tottenham haven't won a game in the Champions League this season following a 2-1 loss to Inter Milan at the San Siro before a 4-2 defeat by FC Barcelona at Wembley.

"Glenn has played such a big part in my life", he said.

"We saw it at West Ham last week - we saw it at Cardiff a couple of weeks ago and they've paid for that inability to do that in Europe, which looks like a Champions League exit now".

"I agree with Pochettino saying it was a positive, in terms of they got some of their main players to sign contracts - there's a suggestion that Dele Alli will do so again".

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino joked that the unusual state of affairs could help his side and hinder City's slick passing approach but, even if that proves to be the case, Guardiola insists the playing surface will not be used as an excuse.

"It's so hard to explain because many things happen, I am disappointed we are still waiting for the new stadium when the expectation was to be there at the beginning of the season".

Red Sox tab David Price for surprising World Series Game 5 start
If you Google search "Boston Red Sox championships", they post nine World Series titles instead of the eight they actually have. The Dodgers could become the first team to lose the World Series on their home field in back-to-back seasons since 1937.

"The season so far, it's unusual because my feeling is the worst feeling I've had in the five years that I've been here", said Pochettino.

Kyle Walker's appearance in Manchester City colours against Tottenham at Wembley on Monday night will provide an untimely reminder of the riches that lie away from Pochettino's squad, with the former Spurs defender doubling his wages to £130,000-a-week when he joined City in the summer of 2017, but Spurs simply can not operate at that financial level. They were a far better team than anyone else, but this year you get the feeling that it could be different. "Normally injuries happen when they are not 100 per cent focused". "I think he is already a top coach, not the next (generation of coaches)". I'm feeling confident and I'm looking forward.

"We have a lot of (other things to focus on) and you know very well when you are competing with sides like we are competing with in the Champions League and Premier League the most important thing is to fight with the same conditions".

Announced as the incoming Manchester City manager midway through the 2015/16 season, Guardiola officially took charge in July 2016.

"These are important. I don't know what's happened in the past but it's true that the strong teams are making a lot of points, they are not dropping points easily". The Citizens could become the first non-London side to win five consecutive Premier League games in the capital.

"The reality is what we did previous year you have to be focused on everyone".
