Tropical wave could affect western Caribbean

Tropical Depression could form by late this weekend

Tropical storm conditions are possible in the watch area tonight and on Monday. Temperatures will be dropping to an overnight low of 72°, with light winds out of the east. High temperatures will be in the upper 80s and lower 90s again. We will have to continue to monitor the disturbance in the Caribbean through the weekend. Michaels is the next name up. With a movement of 3 mph, it's nearly loitering 100 miles east northeast of Chetumal, Mexico, and 240 miles south southwest of Cuba's western tip.

Hurricane Leslie, located in the north-central Atlantic, posed no threat to Cayman. Some fluctuations in intensity are expected during the next 2 to 3 days.

Currently, the storm is moving north at 7 miles per hour.

After landfall, it is expected to weaken and quickly move northeast and away from North Florida and South Georgia. We could see some tropical downpours and storms here in the Midlands, all depending on the track of this potential system.

This is a relatively fast-paced tropical system. By Wednesday, however, environmental conditions are expected to become unfavorable for any significant development to occur.

Sunday will be a bit of a transition day into the week, we'll notice the breeze pick up and throw in a few afternoon showers with the sea breeze.
