Former TV star Bill Cosby has been jailed for between three to 10 years for drugging and sexually assaulting a woman. "Judgment day has come", said Gloria Allred in a press appearance while it rained.
NAIJ.com had reported that various women came out to reveal how 78-year-old American stand-up comedian, actor, author, and activist, Bill Cosby defiled them. "The day has come, the time has come".
One hopes the world and the courts would have listened to the chorus of accusations even if Hannibal Buress' routine hadn't gone viral and sparked renewed interest in the stories about Cosby's actions.
Here's another nugget from the Bill Cosby trial before his sentencing.
A judge has told Bill Cosby that he's not entitled to bail while the 81-year-old comedian appeals his sexual assault conviction.
Camille Cosby alleged that a tape-recording Steele played during the trial was doctored, adding that the mother of Andrea Constand, the victim Cosby was convicted of drugging and raping, "surreptitiously and illegally made the recording" in 2005 without his knowledge or consent.
Constand's was the only case that was within the statute of limitations, and is so far the only criminal case filed against him. He could eventually be sent to a state prison that has separate units for geriatric prisoners and programs for sex offenders.
He quoted from Ms Constand's own statement to the court, in which she said Cosby took her "beautiful, young spirit and crushed it".
49ers Quarterback Out For Season With Torn ACL — Jimmy Garoppolo Injury
The Niners struggled with Beathard and Brian Hoyer last season before the midseason addition of Garoppolo changed their fortunes. The 49ers signed Garoppolo to a five-year, $137.5 million contract this last offseason.
Cosby's defense team has raised the racial issue before, in 2016, before quickly scrapping it.
The felony counts were connected to a 2004 incident between Cosby and former Temple University employee Andrea Constand, who testified that Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her at his Philadelphia home. Cosby's attorneys requested house arrest instead, citing the comedian's age and the fact that he is legally blind. "I put a high degree of weight on the impact of the crime on the victim and her family", said O'Neill.
More than 50 other women have also accused Cosby of sexual abuse going back decades, with most complaints too old to prosecute. "He gets on TV [and says, ] 'Pull your trousers up, black people".
On Monday, a psychologist for the state testified that Cosby appears to have a mental disorder that gives him an uncontrollable urge to assault women.
As part of the sentence, the judge also ordered him to pay a fine of $25,000 plus the costs of prosecution.
Cosby is still in court and sentencing is expected at any moment, stay tuned.
"It was very touching", Feden said of that credit from her superior.
She said she lived alone with her two dogs and had trouble trusting people.
The judge is expected to sentence Cosby later Tuesday.
"Bill Cosby took my handsome, healthy young spirit and crushed it". Cosby's defence lawyer, who was pushing for his client to be granted house arrest, argued that his client's age and legal blindness meant he would pose no risk to others.
