Droves of iPhone fans queued outside the company's United Kingdom flagship Regent Street store on Friday morning, hoping to be among the first to get their hands on the iPhone XS and XS Max (which we reviewed earlier this week).
The iFixit teardown showed iPhone Xs and Xs Max used Intel's modem and communication chips instead of Qualcomm's hardware. While Apple publishes a broad list of suppliers each year, it does not disclose which companies make which components and insists its suppliers keep quiet.

SA Pricing For iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max And Apple Watch
The new prices are R1,500 more than the starting prices of the previous iPhone X in South Africa a year ago . Apple has an October surprise planned: Another new model, called the iPhone XR is coming Oct. 26 for $750.

That's what appealed to Li Jun, who works for a trading company in Guangzhou and traveled to Hong Kong to pick up an iPhone XS for HK$9,899 (US$1,265).
Qualcomm said in July that Apple meant to exclusively use "competitor's modems" in its next iPhone release. Its display lacks the vivid colors, contrast quality and resolution of the XS, but the price tag is nicer at $749.
