Multiple people stabbed in Queens, NYC including children - reports

At least five people, including three infants, have been stabbed at a Queens daycare, police say. Local reports said that police found three infants, two girls and a boy, in the home with knife injuries.

Four other uninjured children were removed from the home for observation.

The victims and their assailant were rushed to a hospital, where one of the girls was listed in serious condition.

A female coworker and the father of one of the injured children were the two adults also attacked. She was taken into a custody for a psych evaluation, said authorities.

A sixth person was found in the basement of the day care center in the Flushing neighborhood.

The incident occurred at the daycare center in the borough of Queens at about 3:30 a.m. EDT, a spokesman for New York City Police Department said.

A 52-year-old woman with self-inflicted knife wounds was taken into custody, said police.

Police said it was not immediately clear why she attacked the children and adults.

Police have not yet determined a motive.
