Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic attended the semi-final game against England last night in Moscow where Croatia won 2-1 after extra time.

With a population of just over four million, Croatia are the smallest country to reach a World Cup final since Uruguay in 1950.

Fans stationed behind the goal roared as a young boy wearing the Peresic name ran a scintillating line from nearly halfway to score in a packed away net.

Celebrities, former players and royalty have been praising the England team for their "beautiful World Cup run", calling them "heroes" who have made the country proud. Well, I would sacrifice many things! But once you're here and played as well as we did, you want to take those opportunities in life.

Unlike the Olympics, where winning third place comes with a bronze medal and some sense of accomplishment, at the World Cup it's only a brutal reminder of how close you came.

"It is a very unusual game because it's a fixture for two teams coming off the back of a disappointment, but the game is there and we need to play it", said the Chelsea man. "I thought that might be the turning point for us". England have been eliminated from the World Cup right at the penultimate stage, and Croatia are now through to Sunday's finals instead.

It meant another World Cup semifinal heartbreaker for England, only this time the game was under control before it was lost.

A look at what's ahead in the World Cup
Phil has assured us that this is all a bit of fun and that he's not trying to exploit his pet to get rich - and we of course believe him.

Piers Morgan said: "OK, I've stopped wailing".

Francisco says that his favourite player was Ivan Klasnic and that he will always remember him and all the difficulties he went through with his health. But I wonder if we are going to get the game we wanted during the group stage of England's stars against Belgium's stars.

As Croatia now face France on Sunday to decide who is crowned world champion, England will have a second go at Belgium for the third-place play-offs this Saturday.

England's valiant effort also drew praise from Britain's Prince William, who said the team's performance gave fans "something to believe in".

The Russia 2018 World Cup has produced a number of great stars and shown a glimpse of what's to come from future talents in the lovely game. He knows England's defenders well from the Premier League and will offer a signficant test of pace and strength for a backline that played 120 minutes in the semifinals and has had one day less to rest. They have given us so much to shout about.

In-fact, 72% of England's goals have come from set-pieces.
