Donald Trump calls for end to Russian expulsion from G7 grouping

Taking stock of the on-going turmoil in war-ridden Afghanistan, Putin said, "It is crucial that we fight the terrorist threat emanating from that country in unison, curb drug production and trafficking and render aid to Afghanistan in its national reconciliation, economic revival and stabilisation".

"There have been no concrete agreements or understandings, and no specific discussions are being conducted now", Peskov said.

US President Donald Trump last month announced that the US was withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal signed by the Obama administration in 2015 under which Tehran had agreed to limit its nuclear activities and allow in worldwide inspectors in return for the lifting of crippling economic sanctions.

U.S. President Donald Trump has called for readmitting Russian Federation into the Group of Seven (G7) leading industrialized nations, a call that puts him directly at odds with some of the United States' closest allies.

Taking to the United States president's favourite social media, Twitter, Mr Conte wrote: "I agree with President Trump: Russia should return to the G8".

Putin's comments come as Trump's relations erode with key allies, including lashing out Saturday at Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who expressed opposition to Trump's trade policies at the conclusion of the summit in Canada.

"Please, we will be glad to see everyone here in Moscow", Putin told reporters in China where he attended an economic summit and met with President Xi Jinping.

President Donald Trump suggested ahead of arriving at the G-7 summit Friday that the group offer a seat at the table to Russian Federation.

"As soon as the American side is ready, this meeting will be held immediately, depending on my work schedule", Putin said.

Putin also said he's open to meeting with Trump and encouraged officials from both countries to make it happen.

Russian Federation had earlier been suspended from the summit in 2014 when it had annexed the Crimean Peninsula from Ukraine, one of the first violations of a European country's borders to be carried out after World War II. For the president of the United States to blame his predecessor rather than to understand that Russian Federation is our adversary - Russian Federation has taken on behavior that is absolutely reprehensible, including being responsible for shooting civilian aircraft out of the sky and killing hundreds of people.

"Whether you like it or not, and it may not be politically correct, but we have a world to run", Trump said on Friday.

China and Russian Federation have been moving closer amid heightened tensions between Beijing and Washington on economic and military fronts, and as Moscow struggles with US-led sanctions.

Putin said disagreements within the G7 should not be overestimated.

The two leades agreed that as all-weather strategic cooperative partners and close friends, Pakistan and China have always stood by each other and would continue to further strengthen this time-tested relationship.
