Elon Musk's Empire Converges: Boring Tunnel to Link LA With SpaceX

Elon Musk's Boring Company to offer 150mph'Loop ride in Los Angeles for $1

Elon Musk Has a Plan to Get You Anywhere on Earth in An Hour

On Thursday night in Brentwood, Elon Musk explained his plan to alleviate traffic. That's the big difference between the Boring Company concept and traditional subway systems.

Alongside the execs onstage was Boring Company "mascot" Gary the snail.

The West L.A. tunnel is the latest project Boring has undertaken after quietly digging a slightly shorter tunnel underneath tiny neighboring municipality of Hawthorne, where SpaceX and Boring are both headquartered.

"And if you could have hundreds of tunnels and small stations throughout the fabric of the city without even the city appearing different, you could solve the transport problem", Musk said. Tunnels, on the other hand, Musk detailed were "way less nerve-racking than flying cars" and still "so fun".

150 miles per hour Loop ride for $1: The electric-powered pods would carry vehicles or up to 16 passengers at speeds of up to 150 miles per hour, which translates into an eight-minute trip from downtown L.A.to Los Angeles International Airport.

The promotions will start to expand to all Whole Foods and Whole Foods 365 nationwide during the upcoming summer. These will be labeled in store with yellow "10% off" sale signs, and "Prime Member Deal" signs, respectively.

Musk pledged his tunneling venture, to be built well below the city's utilities and existing metro lines using electronic boring equipment, would be virtually noiseless. While the executives were sure to distinguish the difference between the "Loop" and the Hyperloop, Musk also theorized that the two systems could eventually be seamlessly connected so riders could travel within the city and between cities with minimal friction.

Hand-delivered flamethrowers: One of the fun fundraisers that Musk set up for the Boring Company sold 20,000 flamethrowers (or "not-a-flamethrowers" for regulatory purposes) at a cost of $500 each.

Fares for Loop could cost as little as $1 per person, Musk suggested, though the actual cost will likely depend on a number of factors, and require input from multiple local and regional agencies.

Musk plans to launch a prototype train inside a 2.7-mile tunnel that his "Boring Company" wants to build on the western side of the city.

The plan calls for excavated soil to be compacted into concrete reinforcement segments for the tunnels, or turned into construction bricks. "It's the only way we can think of to address the chronic traffic issues in major cities", Musk said. They will coordinate with us as they move ahead with their proof of concept tunnel under Sepulveda Boulevard to ensure it doesn't interfere with our Sepulveda Transit Corridor rail project.
