On Friday, friends rallied to defend McCain against a White House official's cruel joke that his positions don't matter because 'he's dying anyway'.

"What was said yesterday goes beyond the pale; it's a moral failing and unacceptable", Kinzinger tweeted.

"The White House right now is absolutely absurd", he added. He won us all over back in the early days when he was just a congressman.

In the summer of 2015, shortly after launching his presidential campaign, Trump mocked McCain's war service, saying of the 2008 Republican presidential nominee: "He's not a war hero".

"People have wondered when decency would hit rock bottom with this administration", former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. said in a statement.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders on Friday refused to confirm or deny what Sadler had said.

A White House spokesman did not dispute the report and issued a statement on behalf of the White House: "We respect Senator McCain's service to our nation and he and his family are in our prayers during this hard time".

Finding him in a pool of blood, his driver rushed Roy to Bombay Hospital , where he was declared brought dead. He was investigating many high profile cases and had earlier headed the Anti-Terror Squad of Maharashtra.

Members of Congress rallied behind their ailing, war-hero colleague.

On Friday, Meghan McCain addressed Sadler directly: "Kelly, here's a little news flash - and this may be a bit intense for 11 o'clock in the morning on a Friday - but we're all dying".

During the phone call, McCain told Sadler she needed to apologize publicly, and the White House aide said she would, according to the source. The lingering question is whose example will it be.

Senator John McCain (R-AZ) speaks at a press conference about the National Defense Authorization Act in Washington, U.S., October 25, 2017. McCain acknowledged that Haspel is a patriot who has devoted her life to serving the country, but he pointed out that her role in overseeing the use of torture by Americans is "disturbing".

"I wanted to let him know how much I love him and how much he matters to me and how much I admire his integrity and his courage", Biden told The New York Times after the trip. "Unfortunately, the testimony the American people heard from Haspel failed to address these concerns", said McCain. Joe Lieberman as his running mate in 2008 instead of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

The nonprofit organization, Veterans of Foreign Wars, mistakenly emailed a draft release to reporters announcing the death of McCain, who has been at his Sedona ranch recovering from recent surgery and continues to battle an aggressive form of brain cancer. He left Washington in December and underwent surgery last month for an infection.
