Karnataka elections: Mining baron G Janardhan Reddy campaigns for BJP

The ruling Congress on Tuesday taunted the Narendra Modi government for "protecting" Karnataka's infamous Reddy mining brothers and fielding three of them for the May 12 state assembly elections.

He further said the Prime Minister may come and go, but here it is a battle between him and Yeddyurappa, and the saffron party knows who is winning in the May 12 Assembly polls.

"Imports? How much low can you stoop Mr. CM?" The twitter handle of Karnataka BJP, which has been extremely active in the run-up to the elections, posted a photo from the popular American fantasy drama television series Game of Thrones to announce Modi's schedule for Udipi.

Stating that it is time they teach CM definition of "Import", the BJP said, "Bring (goods or services) into a country from overseas".

This offer however was rejected by the Congress ruled State Government at that time.

Accusing the BJP of betraying Kannadigas and protecting the Reddy brothers, the party official said iron ore valued at Rs 35,000 crore was mined, extracted and sold to domestic and export markets illegally, as revealed in the probe report.
