In the early games, the makers of Call of Duty differentiated their campaign mode with striking visualizations, cinematic storylines and exceptional missions that sent players on trips to the past, present and future. One source was unsure if it wasn't just the zombies mode being described as a campaign stand-in, others suggested it could be something new and distinct. Instead, Treyarch is focusing on expanding the multiplayer and Zombies mode with an emphasis on co-op modes to make up for the lack of single-player. While unclear, it sounds like there may have been plans at one point but the team wouldn't have been able to complete it before launching in October and had to scrap what they created. With Black Ops 4, the Call of Duty subseries will become the longest-running in the franchise as it surpasses Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
This seems a bit odd as each Call Of Duty game is given three years for development, which is a generous amount by industry standards.
The next installment in the famed Call of Duty: Black Ops franchise will separate itself from previous games thanks to a bold decision. Unlike typical deathmatch modes that feature players with unlimited lives or several rounds with one life, battle royale style is a one shot, one game type of deal.

Fans will probably have to wait until May before they get all their questions answered about the new Call of Duty games coming out in 2018. The game is being developed by Treyarch Studios and will be published by Activision.
Reports first emerged from Polygon, as their sources told them the game will not have a single-player campaign as it became clear the mode would not be finished in time.
