Colorado Rockies standout Nolan Arenado charged the mound after a fastball from San Diego starter Luis Perdomo sailed behind him, setting off a wild brawl that resulted in five ejections Wednesday during a testy series at Coors Field. The pitch to Arenado seemed to be in response to two hit Padres batters in the previous four innings.
Things began in the bottom of the first inning, when Perdomo beaned Rockies shortstop Trevor Story. Perdomo tossed his glove at a furious Arenado, and the big-hitting third baseman started throwing punches at the pitcher in the third inning.
After what went down Wednesday afternoon, everyone at Coors Filed might need some cold ones to take the edge off.

Arenado, Perdomo and Marquez were all ejected after the brawl. It's safe to assume the pitch was retaliatory in nature as Padres outfielder Manuel Margot took a 95 miles per hour heater to the ribs on Tuesday.
The game is still going without Luis Perdomo and Nolan Arenado, and is now heading into the seventh inning. The Rockies head east to take on the Washington Nationals beginning on Thursday night in a four-game series.
